How to access Employment Insurance services in MSCA

To access Employment Insurance (EI) services in My Service Canada Account (MSCA), you must register or sign in to MSCA.

Once registered or signed in, select the "Employment Insurance" button on the MSCA welcome page.

You can not apply for EI benefits in MSCA. To apply online, visit Employment Insurance benefits and leave.

How to view information about your claims

Once you have applied for EI benefits, you can view information about your claims in MSCA.

View your claim status and message

Select "View my claim status and message" to view:

  • your EI claim status
  • details about your claim
  • messages you have received
View your latest claim

Select "Latest claim" to view information about your current claim for EI benefits, such as, but not limited to:

  • the start date
  • your benefit rate
  • the types of benefits
  • the number of weeks paid
View your past EI claims

Select "Past claims" to view information about your past EI claims, including payment information. Select a specific claim to view available information.

Claim information is available on MSCA for a minimum of 7 years.

Register for Alert Me

Select "Register for Alert Me" to receive email notifications. When new information about your EI claim is posted on MSCA. You'll only receive one email alert in a 24 hour period.

You can unsubscribe by selecting "Manage my Alert Me profile" and then "Unsubscribe from my Alert Me". You can subscribe again at any time.

View your EI report and payment information

If you submit your reports online or by telephone, you can view report details by selecting "Payment information". If you submit paper reports, this service isn't available.

You can complete your reports online directly through the Internet Reporting Service or by selecting it from the right-hand navigation bar in MSCA.

Payment information is updated the next business day after your report is processed. Processing occurs each evening from Sunday to Thursday. If you file your report on Friday or Saturday, your payment information will appear on Monday.

Please note that holidays can affect our processing schedule.

View your letters

Select "View my letters" to view and print letters that have been mailed to you. This option is not available for all letters.

Report mistakes and changes that could affect your EI benefits

Select "Mistakes can happen" if you realize that:

  • you've made a mistake filling out your EI report or any other form submitted for your claim
  • there's a change in your circumstances that may affect your EI benefits

It's important that you notify us as soon as possible to avoid problems with your claim and to avoid penalty.

How to submit and view your documents online

Submit documents

You can use our secure upload tool to electronically submit supporting documents for your EI claim. Select "Upload documents" to launch the tool.

View my documents

Select "View my documents" to view a list of documents that you've already submitted and the date they were submitted. If you wish, you can print a confirmation page showing this information.

Use eForms to send information for your claim

Select "Submit eForms" to launch the eForms service.

If you're receiving EI benefits, you can use eForms to provide us information about:

  • an absence from Canada
  • a course or training program that you're attending or will be attending within the next 28 days
  • other parent's information for parental benefits

If you wish, you can save a draft of your eForm and complete it later. It will be available for you to edit for 24 hours. You can only save 1 draft of each eForm at a time. You can also view and print eForms that you've submitted within the last 2 years.

Depending on your benefit type, certain eForms may not be displayed. eForms aren't available for maternity and caregiving benefits. If you're receiving one of these types of benefits, you'll need to call 1-800-206-7218 (TTY: 1-800-529-3742) during business hours or visit a Service Canada Centre to provide information for your claim.

View and print your records of employment

Select "Records of employment" to view and print your electronic ROEs. You can also view information about your paper ROEs.

ROEs are available on MSCA for 7 years following the date they were issued.

How to update your personal information

Update your mailing address and telephone number Currently unavailable

Select "Mailing address and telephone number" to update this information.

You must let us know of any changes to your mailing address or telephone number to prevent delays in receiving your benefits.

To receive your EI tax slip (T4E) by mail, make sure your mailing address is updated before January 1. Paper T4Es are mailed by the end of February using your mailing address in MSCA.

You can inform us of a change of address up to 180 days in advance. To provide your future address and the effective date, select "Change" and then "My future mailing address and telephone number information".

If your home address is different from your mailing address, call 1-800-206-7218 during business hours or visit a Service Canada Centre to update it. Your home address can't be updated online.

If you've moved to a new province and your claim has been transferred, you must also update your Province of residence.

Update your province of residence

Select "Province of residence" if you've moved to a new province or territory. You must update your province or territory of residence to continue accessing your EI claim information online.

Update your direct deposit information Currently unavailable

Select "Direct deposit" to have your EI payments deposited into your bank account. Note that you can't submit changes to your banking information for a future date.

Update your preferred language

You can change your official language preference by selecting "Preferred language".

Written communications will be sent to you in the official language on your file.

How to get your tax slips online

Tax slips (T4E)

Your EI tax slip (T4E) for the current tax year is available in MSCA the first week of February. Select "Tax slips (T4E)" to view it. The online T4E is an official document—print it and attach it to your income tax return.

You can also access your T4Es for any claims you had during the last 6 years.

Mailing options

If you received EI benefits during the current tax year and don't wish to receive a paper T4E by mail, select "Tax slip mailing options". You can choose the online delivery option. You must do this by January 1 to avoid receiving your slip by mail.

Paper tax slips are mailed by the end of February. Ensure that your mailing address is correct in MSCA

EI Program for self-employed people

View your agreement status, enter into, or end an agreement

Select "Agreement status (self-employed)" to register for EI self-employed program agreement.

If you are already registered, you can check the status or terminate your program agreement.
