Alberta Child Benefit – Calculation sheet

Step 1 - Basic benefit

Add $1,100 for your first child plus $550 for each additional child (to a maximum of three additional children).

Step 2 - Benefit reduction

Subtract $25,500 from your adjusted family net income for the year (if negative, the result is zero).

Multiply the result by:

• 7.00% if you have one child
• 10.50% if you have two children
• 14.00% if you have three children
• 17.50% if you have four children

Step 3 - Annual ACB amount

Subtract the result of Step 2 from the result of Step 1 (if negative, the result is zero).

Step 4 - Quarterly ACB amount

Divide the result of Step 3 by 4.
