This petition is a follow-up to petition 503 and requests further information from the Minister of Environment and Climate Change and the Minister of Public Services and Procurement.
According to the follow-up petition, neither minister answered the question regarding support for designating the National Capital Greenbelt as a national urban park. In addition, the petition notes that information was not provided regarding a timeline for confirming the greenbelt’s boundaries.
To address this, the petition asks for the following information:
- whether the ministers will work to sign a statement between the National Capital Commission and Parks Canada to work on the protection of the greenbelt and, if so, what the related timeline is for signing this statement
- what steps are being taken to champion the environmental sustainability, climate resilience, conservation, and protection of the greenbelt and other greenspaces in the National Capital Region
- what the timeline is to confirm the greenbelt boundaries and whether stakeholders have been consulted in this
