Operating context

As the legislative audit office of the federal government and of the 3 northern territories, the Office of the Auditor General of Canada’s operating context is most affected by developments in the auditing and accounting professions and by changes to government operations and expenditures.

During the 2023–24 fiscal year, we continued to work closely with our interested parties and partners to anticipate and respond to evolving circumstances and to integrate enhanced approaches into our audit work.

Internally, like most other government organizations, we adapted and refined our ways of working in a hybrid work model. We also continued work on our transformation initiative, which aims to innovate our audit practices, our internal services, and our technologies to enhance the value of our work and better meet the needs of parliamentarians and Canadians.
