Operating context

As the legislative audit office of the federal government and of the 3 northern territories, the Office of the Auditor General of Canada’s operating context is most affected by developments in the auditing and accounting professions and by changes to government operations and expenditures.

During the 2024–25 fiscal year, we continued our multi-year transformation initiative, which aims to innovate our auditing and reporting processes and revamp our technologies, with a focus on data and digital enablement. This work will help us adapt to better meet present‑day and future needs and challenges and will enhance the value of our work for parliamentarians and Canadians.

Like for most other government organizations, our operations were affected by events related to the proroguing of Parliament in early 2025. This resulted in the delayed tablings of several of our performance audit reports, our 2023–24 Departmental Results Report, and our 2025–26 Departmental Plan. These documents will be tabled in 2025–26.
