Mr. Broadbent embodied trustworthiness by being genuine and down to earth. I first learned he lived on my street when we crossed paths along the Rideau Canal in 2012. We chatted about felines, courtesy the presence of my own, and he told me about his cat, Pinot, who would be visited by a stray feline, he had nicknamed Grigio. Ed was friendly and engaging, caring and kind. We were blessed he loved Canadians enough to fight so hard for all of us. He will be missed. THANK YOU, Mr. Broadbent.

Prayers of strength and comfort for everyone who knows and loves Mr.John Edward Broadbent. Thank you Mr. Broadbent for everything you've done for and in the community. Deepest Respects and sincere condolences to the family of this man.

Sincere condolences to the family. We have lost an icon. I met him when I was a CEGEP student in Montreal in the early 70s. I interviewed Ed for a poli-sci project, when he was a fairly new MP. When I arrived at his office, he asked me to walk with him to pick up his car a the garage before closing. We parked on a side street and did the interview in his car. I was blown away by his kindness and idealism.

Decency, courage, honour and humility of a true Leader in human being.

Canadians are so much better off for having had a champion and friend like you Mr. Broadbent. Condolences to all who knew and loved you.

My father, Mr Albert Olinski, introduced me to politics in my early teens because of Stephan Lewis and Ed Broadbent. We continued to help at every campaign etc . l love the pictures l have of my father with many of our NDP greats including Ed Broadbent. Thank you Ed for giving us so much of your time and always caring for the "working man."

I was introduced to politics and voting in the 70's when I lived in London, Ontario and you were the voice that resinated with me. I watched and supported you when fought for the little guy. Thank you for all you hard work. you will be missed:)

Mr. Broadbent embodied the founding principles of the NDP (and its predecessor CCF) both philosophically and practically. He aspired to equality for the people of Canada and the world, and worked tirelessly in pursuit of that goal in a sleeves-rolled-up way that endeared him to so many, myself included. Without him, the tenor of Canadian politics declined. Now, with his death, this nation is spiritually poorer. My thoughts are with his family and colleagues as they mourn this profound loss.

Truly a great man as well as another man of vision gone. His life was one dedicated to a progressive future for all Canadians. Hope that his legacy lives on as well as the memories of him and his successes. Thanks for all the things accomplished in spite of the detractors.

Ed Broadbent stood on the shoulders of giants, but CANADA stood tall on his giant shoulders. Never again will his like pass our way. He was proud of being Canadian, and CANADA was so fortunate that Ed Broadbent chose to serve his country in that most public of venues, politics. We all owe him so much. Rest In Peace, Ed Broadbent, P.C., C.C.. You will never to be forgotten!

Ed Broadbent was a man of integrity, not just another politician, but rather a Great Canadian Leader who could have been Prime Minister.A man who had a vision for the Country with the best interests of Canada in mind.Godbless RIP

With great gratitude to Mr Broadbent for his remarkable service to Canada. A true gentleman and tireless champion for social justice, he was a true example of what Canadians want their politicians to be.

Remembering a man of the people, a truly, empathetic, progressive Canadian politician who cared for his fellow Canadians; those who needed support from the government. His humanity shone through throughout his political career. People loved him. I had the pleasure of sitting through his lectures at York U in the late ‘60’s.

Mr. Broadbent was a true Canadian and excellent Leader. He could work with any politician regardless of political stripe. It is sad to note that our current politics does not reflect this cooperation both federally and provincially. He will be missed.

I’m not a politician nor a government employee but after learning his achievements and a fighter of democracy, the late Ed Broadbent is indeed a true and honest public servant in his time. Deepest condolences to the family of a great Canadian, Hon. Ed Broadbent. Had the pleasure of spending some time with Ed number of years ago. So impressed with the way he interacted with people. Canada has lost one of its last ‘statesmen’.

He influenced the type of Canadian I became. He was a principled man. And an example of what we want from our politicians. He walked the walk and unlike so many other politicians, he was never involved in a scandal. A man of integrity. Canada lost a giant.

Ed Broadbent was and will be a wonderful model of democratic civic engagement and dedication to he Common Good of all Canada - and beyond.
I was in the middle of reading his last book when I learned he had died. His life and values inspired me and I realized how blessed we were to have him among us.

ED BROADBENT: A man who will never be forgotten and loved by many.

My deep condolences to the family of Ed Broadbent. He made a meaningful contribution to the welfare of all Canadians. I had the great privilege of meeting him when he recieved an Honorary Degree from the University of Calgary in 2010. He was very gracious and gave an inspiring speech to the graduating class. He really was a statesman.

My prayers are with the family of Mr. Broadbent, I thought he was a great person for Canadians. My deepest sympathies to his family, he is home with the Lord. God bless and keep you in your hour of need.

I'm feeling so much gratitude for everything Ed Broadbent did to make Canada a better country. He dedicated his whole life to being leader of the federal NDP, and then advising those federal NDP leaders who followed him. Even after he stepped down as leader, he still had workable solutions for improving Canada. I really miss him. My condolences to his family. RIP.
