Join the team of Winterlude volunteers for a rewarding winter experience in Canada’s Capital Region. There are many ways that you can lend a hand while enjoying this celebration of winter. Below is a complete list and description of Winterlude volunteer opportunities.

The sites

Jacques Cartier Park

Volunteering available for the following tasks:

Activity assistant

  • Help participants take part in activities (for example: obstacle courses, crafts, games)
  • Help the activity coordinator with any preparations
  • Make sure the work area is clean and safe

Snow slide assistant

  • Supervise the bottom of the snow slides and ensure users’ safety
  • Help with line-ups
  • Greet visitors in a pleasant and positive manner
  • Inform the supervisor if problems arise

Ice Hog

  • Wear a costume of one of the four Winterlude mascots (Papa, Mama, Nouma or Noumi)
  • Interact with visitors in the Park according to procedures and instructions

Ice Hog assistant

  • Help the ice hogs walk in the Park

Lost children assistant

  • Patrol the site in search of parent or child according to the description
  • Follow procedures

Confederation Park

Volunteering available for the following tasks:

Activity assistant

  • Help participants take part in activities (for example: obstacle courses, crafts, games)
  • Help the activity coordinator with any preparations
  • Make sure the work area is clean and safe

Host

  • Greet sculptors, artists and other guests on site
  • Offer refreshments and keep the room tidy
  • Greet the caterer
  • Control access to the designated area

Various sites

Volunteering available for the following tasks:

Information officer

  • Inform visitors about Winterlude activities

Must be bilingual (English and French).

Promotional Ice Hog

  • Wear one of the four Winterlude mascot costumes (Papa, Mama, Nouma or Noumi) and make appearances at various promotional activities and events (hotels, press conferences, media events, etc.)

Volunteer apprentice coordinator

  • Assist the coordination team in volunteer management

Must be bilingual (English and French), at least 21 years old, available for a minimum of 25 hours, and undergo a selection interview.
