Lower Lakes Towing Ltd.

Lower Lakes Towing Ltd. grew from its infancy in 1994 as a small tug and barge operator to become one of the largest marine transportation service providers operating on the Great Lakes. Today, Lower Lakes Towing is a subsidiary of RAND Logistics who owns US and Canadian bulk carrier fleets.

Lower Lakes Towing operates a fleet of six Canadian flagged Self-unloading and Conventional bulk carriers. Combined with our U.S. sister companies, Grand River Navigation and American Steamship Company, we have a combined fleet of 22 vessels operating on the Great Lakes. These vessels transport a diverse array of dry bulk commodities including limestone, coal, iron ore, salt, grain and other commodities for more than 50 long-standing customers in the construction, electric utility, integrated steel and food industries.

Recognized for its leadership, the Institut Maritime du Québec (IMQ), founded in 1944, is the largest Francophone maritime college in Canada. It provides workforce training in four areas of specialization: naval architecture, navigation, marine mechanical engineering, and operations management and logistics. To fulfill its mission of supporting the maritime and near-maritime industry, IMQ's Continuing Education offers accredited, regulated, and customized training through its Maritime Emergency Duties Training Center (CFMU) and its Center for Professional Diving Training (CFPP).
