A Message from the Commissioner on the National Summit and next steps
September 19, 2025
Now that the National Summit on the Future of Sport has come to an end, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all those who participated.
During the event, the Commission brought together victims and survivors of maltreatment in sport, athletes, coaches, parents, administrators, academics, advocates and experts from across Canada to engage in conversation on how to create a safer, more inclusive, and more accountable sport system in Canada.
Participants provided valuable commentary on the preliminary recommendations in our Preliminary Report, including the proposal for a Centralized Sport Entity and a national safe-sport strategy focused on prevention, education, accountability, and system-wide reform.
The responses we heard from participants not only underscored the collective commitment to advance a safer, more inclusive, equitable, and accountable sport system, but also strengthened the Commission’s path forward. This feedback will inform the Commission’s Final Report, to be published in March 2026.
For those who did not attend the National Summit or for National Summit participants who wish to provide additional feedback, there is an online feedback form available on the Commission’s website for this purpose. The form will remain open until September 29, 2025.
Once again, thank you for sharing your input and insights with us over the past week. Let us move forward together—stronger, aligned, and united by the shared vision of a sport system that embodies Canadian values and serves all, now and for future generations.
