Importing commercial goods into Canada
Register for the assessment and revenue management system
To import commercial goods for your business’s use or sale, get a Canada Revenue Agency business number and register in the Canada Border Services Agency’s Assessment and Revenue Management system (CARM).
Import goods on a Temporary Admission Permit
Submit a Temporary Admission Permit in the CARM Client Portal. If taxes (partial or full) are owing, you’ll also need to submit a Commercial Accounting Document.
Import goods on a Temporary Admission (A.T.A.) Carnet
If applicable, use an A.T.A. Carnet to temporarily import goods.
