Well, it's a peer helper program between allies and our communities. We provide resources, and we're able to ensure everyone's well-being.

(AJ) Hi, everyone! I'm Major André Pierre Jean.

I am the national co-chair of the Defence Team Pride Advisory Organization, or DTPAO, which represents all 2SLGBTQI+ communities.

Today, I agreed to take the 60 second challenge.

"How long have you been involved in the DTPAO?"

I started in November 2019. I'm still very, very proud of it.

"What is the DTPAO and what is its mandate?"

Well, it's really about targeting systemic barriers that affect our communities and making recommendations to the proper chains of command to address them.

"How do you take care of yourself?"

We take care of ourselves, and our families and the people we love.

"Why does diversity matter in the Canadian Armed Forces?"

We really want to make sure we have a diversified workplace, which is much more enriching. We are able to go even further as an organization, all together.

"How can Defence team members support the DTPAO's mandate?"

It's simple! Join the more than 400 voices across Canada to support other communities.

"How do you promote the creation of open and respectful workplaces?"

It's by talking to one another that we understand one another.

"How can we become one of the communities' best allies?"

Listen, be attentive to people and our communities. It's about having... forging ahead.
