Candice Ross: You've done this before!

Hi, I'm Candice Ross, the Interim Director for Anti-Racism Implementation at the Defence Team, and I'm here to take the 60 Seconds challenge. Let's go!

"What is DARI?"

DARI was formerly the Anti-Racism Secretariat, and it is now the Director Anti-Racism Implementation to better reflect our new mandate.

"What work still needs to be done to address racism and bias in the Defence Team?"

So, for this, we need better data to be able to pinpoint the problems. We need greater coherence across L1s to ensure they're all working together for a common goal. And we need accountability: Not just at the senior leader level, but all through the ranks.

"How does DARI provide support to Defence Team employees?"

We provide advice and recommendations with an anti-racism and racial equity lens, to better enable anti-racist approaches to programs and initiatives across the Defence Team.

"What is the Anti-Racism Resource Hub?"

This is an online collection of tips, practical tools, educational materials, and links to support such as the Total Health and Wellness Strategy… To provide education and awareness about ant-racism efforts at the Defence Team.

"How can Defence Team members contribute to an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome?"

So, it's not enough to just be not racist or not prejudice. We need to be actively anti-racist and actively anti-prejudice. This involves educating yourself, increasing awareness, speaking up when there is a problem. But this also means being a co-conspirator: Actively leaning in to push back against the status quo and using your privilege to affect change.

And that's it!
