The detachment’s mission involves providing airlift support for allied and partner nations in support of Ukraine. Today, we’re speaking with Captain Jed Martin, aircraft commander on an RCAF CC-130J Hercules.  Can you tell us how the Tactical Airlift Detachment is supporting Op REASSURANCE?

SVH: How many people are part of the Tactical Airlift Detachment?

JM: Currently, we have approximately 30 people here supporting the operation, mostly from 436 Squadron. We also have members from 2 Air Movement Squadron also supporting.

SVH: What kind of missions are you undertaking?

JM: Currently, we are carrying out airlift missions in support of our allies and partners in order to help move cargo into neighbouring countries around Ukraine.

SVH: How does it feel to be part of this mission?

JM: This mission is very rewarding. To be able to help our partners and allies move cargo in their support of Ukraine, and also do our part to support the people of Ukraine in this time.

SVH: Thanks so much for taking the time to join us today, Sir.
