Each year, the Government of Canada issues tax slips to federal public servants. When corrections are made on a pay account, amended tax slips may be issued depending on the type of correction made.

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) continues to work closely with departmental change agents and the Public Service Pay Centre to resolve outstanding issues and make the necessary corrections. To help you know when an amended tax slip could be available, you can refer to the tax slips amendments schedule.

Please note, it is important that all employees file their taxes before the deadline of April 30, 2022, using the most recent tax slip(s) that has been issued.

Reminder: If there is an error in your 2021 tax slip, an amended slip will be produced and sent directly to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and/or Revenu Québec once the correction is made in the pay system. Employees should refer to the tax slips amendments schedule and monitor their account in Phoenix or in Compensation Web Applications (CWA) for any amended tax slip(s). If you have not yet filed your tax return, you should use the amended slip to submit your file. If you have already filed your tax return, you do not have to refile. Both CRA and Revenu Québec have agreed to automatically reassess and adjust your tax returns accordingly.

Additionally, the Government of Canada will reimburse employees for expenses (up to $200 per year, including taxes) related to obtaining tax advice. Please refer to the Treasury Board Secretariat’s web page for more information.

PSPC would also like to remind employees of the legislative measures, announced on January 15, 2019, to support employees who must reimburse an overpayment. These could apply to your situation if you have been overpaid.
