Virtual Shout-outs are back: See who received a “Shout-out” in March

Do you know of a co-worker who deserves a special shout-out or are you looking for a way to recognize someone in this current online environment? Due to its popularity last year, the Virtual Shout-out program (accessible only on the National Defence network) is back for 2022. It’s a quick and easy way for you to publicly recognize a colleague, or team of colleagues, for a job well done.

What is a Virtual Shout-out?

The Virtual Shout-outs are coordinated by the Defence Team’s Corporate Awards and Recognition Secretariat (CARS) (accessible only on the National Defence network). It is open to all members of the Defence Team.

Messages should be brief and include:

• The name of the individual;
• Why they are being acknowledged;
• How they achieved their goal or made their mark; and
• How they impacted the team or organization.

Here’s how to submit a Virtual Shout-out:

• Email your shout-outs to the Corporate Awards and Recognition Secretariat and
• Provide the email(s) of the person(s) being recognized.
• Shout-outs are collected on an ongoing basis.

Note that shout-out recipients will be given the option to “opt out” of having their message displayed on the Bulletin Board (accessible only on the National Defence network) on the Maple Leaf, HR Go RH app, and the Defence Team intranet, and submissions can remain anonymous.

“Shout-out to WO Eric Alain: I wish to acknowledge his ongoing IT support weather it is in the workplace or from home he responds quickly and is always in solution mode. I want him to be recognized for the amazing far-seeing in enabling CDLS(W) more efficient and effective in the way we provide support virtually for the last year 18 months. WO Alain sees and think outside the box as a natural nature, he anticipates possible IT issues people may be faced with while working from home. He arrived in 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic, and he immediately ensured his IT section composed of 3 members including him was organised to meet his vision in the way he intended to provide the IT support required and expected by the higher leadership. He is always a step ahead of challenges for rotating personnel by having secured ahead of time the necessary IT equipment. Whether it is for members newly posted in or recently being hired as Locally Engage Staff he is able to have them rapidly setup to work from home as this is now part of our reality now.
