NORAD was honoured to host Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for his visit to Colorado Springs, Colorado, June 7, 2022. Mr. Trudeau was accompanied by the Minister of National Defence, Anita Anand, and both were welcomed to Colorado Springs by the U.S. Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, and by NORAD Commander, United States Air Force General Glen D. VanHerck. During the visit, Mr. Trudeau participated in briefings and spoke with Gen. VanHerck about the evolving threat environment, homeland defence design and the future of continental defence. These discussions set the stage for the June 20 announcement on NORAD modernization from the Minister of National Defence. Mr. Trudeau's visit to NORAD demonstrated the Canadian government's commitment to NORAD and fostering the unique bi-national relationship between Canada and the United States.
