Updated ATIP training curriculum now available!

July 25, 2022 - Defence Stories

The Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) landscape is rapidly changing across the Government of Canada due to a focus on open government initiatives, data strategies, digital standards, and enhanced technological solutions.

To support the department’s performance and understanding of ATIP, the Corporate Secretary’s Directorate of Access to Information and Privacy (DAIP) (accessible only on the National Defence network) together with the ADM(HR-Civ) Directorate Workforce Performance and Development, conducted a comprehensive review of the department’s ATIP training program. As a result of the assessment, DAIP is pleased to announce a modernized ATIP training curriculum.

Check out the course offerings and self-register on the DAIP SharePoint site (accessible only on the National Defence network). We encourage managers to recommend ATIP training for all DND employees and CAF members to raise awareness and proficiency across the Department. Note that the Canada School of Public Service ATIP Fundamentals (COR502) is mandatory for all DND managers and CAF managers supervising civilians and is a prerequisite to the ATIP curriculum (for the purpose of ATIP mandatory training, a manager is defined by its position title or anyone who has reporting staff).

DAIP’s ATIP training sessions will be conducted via MS Teams in both official languages. Submit the course code and session number to your training coordinator once you complete the training. Please note that DAIP may combine, postpone, or cancel sessions to manage participant volumes as required.

Contact the ATIP training team if you have questions.
