Colleagues,

On behalf of the Clerk, Janice Charette, we wish you a happy Public Service Pride Week!

This year, we are celebrating from coast to coast to coast our fourth Pride together as a public service.

We are at our strongest as a public service when we embrace each others’ differences and value diverse experiences, perspectives and voices. To do that, we need to be our true and authentic selves in the workplace. That is why the theme for Public Service Pride Week this year is Being Your Authentic Self at Work.

During this week, let’s honour the achievements of our vibrant and diverse LGBTQ2+ communities, learn from their lived experiences and work together to continue to foster a more inclusive, diverse, equitable and accessible public service.

In addition to progress achieved within the public service, such as a new LGBTQ2+ executive network representing 50 executives and the new Gender Identity and Gender Expression Action Committee, we’ve also seen great advancements for Canadians over the past year. This includes the ban on conversion therapy through the Criminal Code, new census data on transgender and non-binary populations, and the reveal of the design for the new LGBTQ2+ National Monument to be built in our nation’s capital.

We encourage you to participate in the events and celebrations this week, including the second annual Public Service Pride Awards ceremony. To learn more, please visit publicservicepride.ca (you are now leaving the Government of Canada website). We also encourage you to show your pride on social media using #PSPW2022.

Building a diverse, safe and inclusive public service is everyone’s job! Thank you to the Public Service Pride Network and its members for their work throughout the year and in organizing #PSPW2022.
