Virtual Shout-Outs - Ending the summer with a bang!

September 6, 2022 - Defence Stories

"Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well."

- Voltaire

Do you know of a co-worker who deserves a special shout-out or are you looking for a way to recognize someone who has made an impact, big or small? Virtual Shout-Outs are a quick and easy way for you to publicly recognize a colleague, or team of colleagues, for a job well done.

Here’s how to submit a Virtual Shout-out:

Note that shout-out recipients will be given the option to “opt out” of having their message displayed on the Bulletin Board (accessible only on the National Defence network) on the Maple Leaf and the Defence Team intranet, and submissions can remain anonymous.

Don’t delay! Virtually shout-out your hard-working colleagues today!

“I would like to submit a virtual shout out to Jessica Bukovac, Ashley Ladouceur, Haley Thompson and Ayan Hersi for the monumental effort they have put into staffing in our group.  There was a need to fill dozens of positions at the same time and this team pulled through and got it all done with flying colours.  Their client service skills are commendable and the effort they put into this is incredible.  You are all amazing!” – Leslie Larabie

“Since the beginning of the summer Candice McCluskey has been spending 2 days a week in our department. In a time where workloads sometimes seem large and staffing seems short Candice has been kind enough to lend herself as a resource. In the time that she has been here she has helped with many different projects, often picking up a lot of the extra work details that seem to take up time and effort where people don’t always have those resources to invest.

She is always more than willing to sit and share her knowledge. She is always willing to take on a task or challenge, and she is wonderful for sharing her knowledge so that others may be equipped to do their job as amazingly as Candice does hers.

Teammates like this can be hard to find and we will miss her presence in our office when she is back to her original position full time.” – Ryan Somcher

A huge thank you to Cpl Ephriam Petrescue for their incredible support to the 22 Wing North Bay base newspaper, The Shield/Le Bouclier.  While I was away on a military exercise, Cpl Petrescue volunteered to be lead editor, ensuring the monthly paper’s continued publication by editing submissions, selecting the appropriate images, making a myriad of decisions while providing an excellent internal communication tool in a professional and timely manner.  Bravo Zulu! -Capt Leah Pierce
