"FALLing" into a new season of virtual shout-outs!

October 14, 2022 - Defence Stories

"No matter how busy you are, you must take time to make the other person feel important."

- Mary Kay Ash

Do you know of a co-worker who deserves a special shout-out or are you looking for a way to recognize someone who has made an impact, big or small? Virtual Shout-Outs are a quick and easy way for you to publicly recognize a colleague, or team of colleagues, for a job well done.

Here’s how to submit a Virtual Shout-out:

Note that shout-out recipients will be given the option to “opt out” of having their message displayed on the Bulletin Board (accessible only on the National Defence network) on the Maple Leaf and the Defence Team intranet (accessible only on the National Defence network), and submissions can remain anonymous.

Don’t delay! Virtually shout-out your hard-working colleagues today!

Although they recently joined the Directorate, Workforce Programs and Services (DWPS) within DGWD in ADM (HR-Civ), Alina Kurosky and Danny Lecouffe joined forces to further develop workplace flexibility at DND.

Throughout the summer, their concerted efforts have flourished into a comprehensive solution that will positively affect most DND employees. The Employee Experience and People Management team is extremely grateful for your efforts!

- Marie-Ève Abran

Maxime Martineau and Samantha Beauchesne, thank you for all of your hard work and commitment to hiring the WPs. This was a top priority for the client and your dedication to these files was crucial. We wouldn’t have been able to complete these files without your support, thank you!

– Christina Lee

I would like to submit a virtual shout out to acknowledge the amazing work by Carolina Rivas and Jon Bakestani put forth over the past year, in particular the past few months. The streamlining and improvement of the internal RCN ATI processes has resulted in improved the levels of production, a major clear out of backlogged files and establishing a new standard of excellence for RCN to live up to in the foreseeable future. Their input, guidance, and hard work has allowed me, in the role of RCN ATI Coordinator to shift focus from “eternal catch-up” to developing tools to make RCN more proactive and capable on building on our recent achievements. Cheers to you both and Cheers to being part of an awesome team!

– Jason Courtney RCN ATI Coordinator.

Summer months can leave people feeling stretched and short staffed with people taking time off and having fun in the sun. Our department is no exception to this and compounded by leaves, postings, and deployment it left our office feeling vacant to say the least. 2Lt Dakota Roomere came in to our department in August and he hit the ground running. He was more than eager to pitch in wherever he could and it quickly became apparent that there was no task in our day to day operations that was too complex for him to take on. Dakota is about as switched on as any team member can be and in such a short time he has not only proven to be a valuable member of our team but also an adored co-worker. It is sad to say his posting here is temporary but we are certainly fortunate to have had him here for the time that we have and even more fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from him.

- Ryan Somcher

I would like to warmly thank the whole Directorate of Land Requirements team, and in particular Maj Joe Baker, Major Chris Inglis, and Maj Cory Durant for their outstanding work, dedication, and support to their leadership over the last half year. This was an extremely busy time, especially with the continuation of the advancement of the SSE portfolio, the creation of urgent operational requirement projects, the long absence of key team members, and the restarting of public and industry engagements activities. BZ!

- Lieutenant-Colonel Pascal Boucher

I would like to submit a virtual shout-out for Brigitte Labrie for the constant efforts she has made and continues to make to build strong connections within our team. Though she has been our section head for a relatively short period of time, her impact was felt quickly! Thank you Brigitte for being an example of positive and transparent management that is rooted in a spirit of development and cooperation.

- Alexandra Gignac

I would like to highlight the work of my team and congratulate Lu Nguyen, Peta Seguin, Stéphane Lafond and Mark Finn, who successfully completed a very lengthy project. Everyone at the Materiel Management Training Centre (MMTC) is very proud of the work that you have accomplished and your contribution to the new course, Introduction to Life Cycle Materiel Management (LCMM).

Peta, you demonstrated solid leadership skills when you inherited this project. Your strong work ethic and your passion helped us complete this project despite many challenges.

Lu, you are an excellent developer and I am very proud of this new course that you have developed. You are true to yourself and were there to support your colleagues—you demonstrated flexibility and resolute commitment to the project when we adopted a new, more agile development approach. Your efforts proved to be successful, because you were able to finish the project with time to spare, all while developing new work methods for the team.

Stéphane, while your technical expertise is often acknowledged, I would like to thank you for your respectful way of collaborating with stakeholders. Through your human-centred approach and your knowledge, we were able to help develop engaging materiel.

Mark, you are an exceptional graphic designer, and I am happy that you took the time to support your colleague. Your feedback on this project most definitely helped improve this new learning solution.
