Defence Team members honoured with Chief Financial Officer Merit Awards

The CFO Merit Award recognizes individuals and teams, both civilian and military, in the Defence financial community who have made exceptional contributions to the financial support and management of the department and Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) operations.

During a virtual ceremony held on 30 January 2023, two individuals and two teams were presented with the 2022 Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Merit Award. The ceremony was held on the opening day of the National Defence Comptrollers’ Conference and Training & Development Forum. Over 200 people from the Defence Financial Community were in attendance, including the award winners, their managers, and family and friends.

Anders Griffioen

Anders Griffioen is awarded the CFO Merit Award for his exceptional management and communication skills and for fostering collaboration within cross-functional teams. Furthermore, he has been a driving force for process improvement within hospitality, conferences and event management at DND.

Capt Kathryn Collins is awarded the CFO Merit Award for her commitment, perseverance and procurement prowess as the 3 RCR Quarter Master as well as for outstanding support to CAF expeditionary operations.

DFSI/ DFASST/ DFO teams

The Director Financial Systems and Integration (DFSI), Director Financial Analytics, Systems Support and Training (DFASST) and Director Financial Operations (DFO) teams are awarded the CFO Merit Award for their outstanding work in support of the Business Partner (BP) Project. Demonstrating relentless dedication, exceptional leadership and professional knowledge in these endeavours, the DFSI/DFASST/DFO teams effectively led activities for financial process and system transformation through strong engagement and collaboration throughout the DND business community.

DIEC team

The Director Infrastructure and Environment Comptrollership (DIEC) team is awarded the CFO Merit Award for its contribution to sound financial resource planning and policy adherence through to implementation. The team provided outstanding leadership, strict financial governance and expert level financial support to all ADM Infrastructure & Environment (IE) organizations, successfully navigating extremely challenging fiscal times, and enabling a clear and accurate financial picture for ADM(IE).
