  1. Communication throughout the National Cadet and Junior Canadian Rangers Support Group (Natl CJCR Sp Gp) is paramount when dealing with the medical care entitlements of all members of the Cadet Program.  Ensuring that the parents / guardians of our members are informed of the entitlements and how to access care and insurance in the event of an incident must be given the widest distribution possible.

  2. The Natl CJCR Sp Gp medical care brochure designed for cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers, has been updated to reflect the entitlements that all cadets and JCRs are afforded IAW CATOs and QR (Cadets), the reporting procedure, steps involved in making a claim, and the location of the insurance claim forms online.

  3. The cadets.ca website containing the information of the care entitlements afforded to the cadets and JCRs, has been updated to echo the information in the brochure to ensure maximum accessibility for cadets, staff cadets and parents.

  4. It is imperative that this communication be disseminated to all Natl CJCR Sp Gp HQ staff, RCSU staff, CTC staff, corps / sqn staff, Leagues and sponsors, to educate the cadets, staff cadets and parents on the care entitlements are to be introduced during the following:

    1. CTC Senior Staff seminars;
    2. CO / Trg O training seminars;
    3. joining instructions for RDAs, NDAs, and CTCs (course cadet and staff cadets);
    4. adult staff and staff cadet refresher training and course cadet orientations;
    5. corps / sqn membership packages; and
    6. parent / cadet nights;

  5. In terms of staff cadets’ entitlements to compensation in case of illness or injury arising from their duties, it has been confirmed that Staff Cadets are covered under the Government Employees Compensation Act (GECA) through their respective provincial workers’ compensation, and like all cadets, Staff Cadets are also covered under their respective League insurance policies.  Information on the coverage for staff cadets will be provided to RCSUs for dissemination to staff cadets through joining instructions and during refresher training.

  6. Queries with regards to this message can be directed to J1 Natl CJCR Sp Gp HQ.
