CANCDTGEN 034/20 - Authorized Use of Personal Information

1. Cadets and Junior Candian Rangers (CJCR) staff are relying on electronic communications more than ever to deliver the Cadet Program and stay connected with cadets. Staff and cadets are reminded they must properly use all communication tools and mediums, and protect the privacy of individuals. Use and publication of personal information and images of cadets is outlined on the CF 1158, Application for Membership in the Canadian Sea, Army or Air Cadets, and must comply with the Privacy Act. For example, training results or scores shall be treated as Protected A information and shall not be posted publicly. 
2. CJCR staff are also reminded that the use of personal information and images of adults must comply with the Privacy Act. For example, an individual’s presence at a particular event, on a specific date, at a particular location is considered personal information. The collection, use, and disclosure of such information, including photographic images, must be managed in accordance with the Privacy Act. 
3. Any questions concerning the use of communication tools and mediums can be directed to your RCSU Public Affairs Officer, or the CJCR HQ Public Affairs Officer.
