COATS NTE Class “A” Reserve Service Opportunities for Training Year 2024/2025

  1. The National Training Establishment (NTE) is seeking highly motivated Cadet Organizations Administration and Training Service (COATS) members who are interested in leading and inspiring students through the various Recruit, Occupational, Job-based, and Specialty Training courses as part of the NTEs Instructional, Standards, and Training Support teams.
  2. The NTE team is routinely augmented by Class “A” COATS members who instruct or provide standards and training support for each course conducted by the NTE. The NTE has created reserve service opportunity pools from which members will be selected to fill the following functional positions:
    1. Directing Staff (Instructor) at the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class/Sergeant to Chief Petty Officer 1st Class/Chief Warrant Officer and Lieutenant(N)/Captain to Lieutenant Commander/Major;
    2. Learning Site Standards Officer at the rank of Lieutenant(N)/Captain to Lieutenant Commander/Major;
    3. Training Support (Administration/Logistic support) at the rank of Sailor 1st Class/Corporal to Petty Officer 1st Class/Warrant Officer and Lieutenant(N)/Captain; and
    4. Course Sergeant-Major at the rank of Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class/ Master Warrant Officer to Chief Petty Officer 1st Class/ Chief Warrant Officer.
  3. Members interested in working with the NTE during the 2024/2025 training year, will apply through the Virtual Orderly Room (VOR) (you are now leaving Canada.ca. Link accessible only on CCO Net) application process, which will remain open until 15 October 2023. Members can apply for multiple positions and are not limited to a single training or training support role. In order to be selected for Class “A” reserve service with the NTE, members must:
    1. Meet the rank requirements of the position. Members one rank lower may apply and may be selected for Class “A” reserve service opportunities on specialty training courses;
    2. Be recommended by their RCSU; and
    3. Not have any outstanding administrative or disciplinary action pending on their file.
  4. Instructional positions open to COATS General Service – Non-Commissioned Members include Drill Instructor for the Basic Officer Training Course, specialty instructors and training advisor roles. Members are invited to specify their area of interest in the comments section of their application.
  5. Members may be selected for inclusion in multiple pools resulting in Class “A” reserve service opportunities in each of the functional areas. Members will be required to participate in an online orientation session, which may include the Instructor Selection Program for those being considered for instructional positions. Prior to commencing a period of Class “A” reserve service with the NTE, the members home RCSU will be contacted in order to confirm the members availability.
