Interim Waiver of Prerequisites to CJCR Gp O 5530-5, Staff Cadet Employment

  1. Prerequisites for staff cadet employment are established to ensure cadets selected as staff cadets have sufficient leadership abilities to fill their appointed positions. As detailed at reference, in addition to the requirement to be 16 years of age as of the first day of employment, the prerequisites for staff cadet employment are:
    1. be a minimum rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class/Sergeant;
    2. have completed corps/squadron qualification of Phase 3/Silver Star/Level 3; and
    3. have previously attended summer training.
  2. Due to the unique training environment that the Cadet Program experienced through the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, it is recognized that cadets may not have had the opportunity to participate in summer training. Therefore, until further notice the requirement to have previously attended summer training is suspended.
  3. The prerequisite to have previously attended summer training will be reinstated once more cadets have had the opportunity to meet this requirement.
  4. Questions regarding staff cadet employment may be directed to the Regional Cadet Support Unit J1 sections.
