Fuel Charge Relief: Facilities subject to provincial carbon pricing systems for industry
The federal Fuel Charge applies in Alberta, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Saskatchewan alongside provincial output-based performance standards systems.
The federal fuel charge applies in jurisdictions listed on Part 1 of Schedule 1 to the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act, as shown on the Carbon pollution pricing systems across Canada web page.
If registered as an emitter with the Canada Revenue Agency, owners and operators of facilities subject to these provincial output-based performance standards systems can become eligible for certain exemptions from the federal fuel charge.
On this page, you will find information on exemption eligibility and steps.
