The Honourable Randeep Sarai
Secretary of State (International Development)
Represents the riding of Surrey Centre
The Honourable Randeep Sarai was first elected in 2015 to represent the riding of Surrey-Centre and he currently serves as Canada’s Secretary of State (International Development). He previously served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence.
Sarai was born in Vancouver, British Columbia as the son of Sikh immigrant parents from Punjab, India. He completed his undergraduate degree in political science at the University of British Columbia and complimented this with a law degree at Queen’s University. After his studies, he began practising law before transitioning into politics.
Throughout his career, he has been deeply focused on supporting initiatives that enhance the quality of life for underserved communities. His passion for community service is reflected through co-founding Virsa – Supporting Youth Strengthening Families Society, supporting community crime prevention initiatives, raising funds to combat polio and in helping build a local temple and organizing food drives.
