Conversion tables for model 919/3.5" or equivalent

You can use moisture meter conversion tables to convert the temperature and the reading on the meter to percentage moisture content. The Canadian Grain Commission monitors and maintains Canadian calibrations for model 919/3.5” or equivalent moisture meters.

You can also use our moisture content calculator for grain using a model 919/3.5” or equivalent moisture meter, which uses the same information as these tables.

High moisture grain

If the moisture content of your grain is higher than those listed on our moisture conversion tables, use our moisture content calculator for high moisture grain.

Calibration updates

Calibration updates for the Unified Grain Moisture Algorithm (UGMA) technology moisture meters, are available from the following company websites:

Contact the manufacturer of your moisture meter if you need conversion tables or calibrations for models other than those listed here.

Conversion tables for grains not regulated under the Canada Grain Act

Hemp seed and solin are not regulated under the Canada Grain Act. To support marketing of these seeds, the Canadian Grain Commission developed conversion tables.

Procedures to estimate moisture content of other crops

Use these procedures to estimate the moisture content for which there are no model 919/3.5 or equivalent moisture meter conversion tables.

Estimating moisture content, includes crop and procedure
CropProcedure
Beans, Dutch Brown Use the Canadian Grain Commission Pea Beans (PDF, 554 kb) conversion table number 3 and subtract 0.8% moisture from the chart result.
Beans, Kintoki Use the Canadian Grain Commission Beans, Dark Red Kidney (PDF, 282 kb) conversion table number 2 and read the results directly.
Beans, Pink Use the Canadian Grain Commission Pea Beans (PDF, 554 kb) conversion table number 3 and subtract 0.8% moisture from the chart result.
Beans, Yellow Use the Canadian Grain Commission Beans, Light Red Kidney (PDF, 24 kb) conversion table number 1 and read the results directly.
Mixed GrainUse the conversion table and the tough and damp limits of the predominant grain.
Note: For beans, the ‘damp’ moisture range is over 18%.
