Claims process

When a producer reports an unpaid grain delivery to the Canadian Grain Commission, we will:

  1. determine if the company has failed or refused to pay the producer
  2. obtain delivery or payment documentation from the producer and/or licensed grain company to confirm that the producer has an eligible claim
  3. submit claim packages to the security provider on behalf of the producer realize on the security for eligible claims by executing the letter of credit or bond, or making a claim against the insurance policy
  4. pay producers whose claims are eligible
  5. where appropriate, use advertisements in newspapers, a website notice, an email notice and social media to tell producers to contact the Canadian Grain Commission if they are owed money
