Canada Research Coordinating Committee welcomes Paul Hébert as chair

The members of the Canada Research Coordinating Committee (CRCC) are pleased to welcome Paul Hébert, president of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), as chair, effective February 1, 2025. Hébert joined the Committee at the start of his term as CIHR president on January 2, 2025.

The chair position rotates annually between the presidents of Canada’s three federal research funding agencies—the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and CIHR.

On behalf of his CRCC colleagues, Hébert thanked the outgoing chair, Alejandro Adem, president of NSERC, for his service in 2024.

“I would like to thank Prof. Adem for his leadership in the Canadian research community over the past year,” said Hébert. “I look forward to working with him, and all CRCC members, to advance shared priorities in the year ahead, creating a more equitable, connected and innovative research enterprise for Canada.”
