Connect to GC Wi-Fi

SSC’s GC Wi-Fi service gives GC workers greater mobility, flexibility and productivity by providing access to Wi-Fi networks in GC workplaces.

GC laptops and tablets

When in a GC location with SSC-enabled Wi-Fi, your GC device should automatically connect to the CANADA Wi-Fi network. You may need to select the CANADA Wi-Fi network the first time you log in at a new location.

In some GC locations, where Wi-Fi is provided by a third party on behalf of SSC, you will see Wi-Fi network options that have the following extensions as part of their name:

• GC_Commercial
• CWS network

Select these and you will be prompted with a terms of use page for your connection.

Please note that Apple laptops and tablets may use a hexadecimal character to display GC Wi-Fi. For example, CANADA would be displayed as 43414E414441.

For GC work phones, private devices and GC laptops/tablets not yet configured to automatically connect as above:

• Access the GC-Wifi network with the password given by your organization (see posters and your organization’s intranet).
• Launch your Internet browser to log in using your GC username and password, or the guest username and password provided to you at that location.

VPN

When using Wi-Fi, if your organization is not based in the building you are in, you must connect to your VPN to access your departmental network.
