(APD) "How do you take care of your mental health?" I do this every day by taking time for myself, doing an activity that I enjoy; for example, by exercising and playing a sport.

(APD) Hello! My name is Audrey-Pier Diotte. I am the coordinator of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), here at the Department of Defence, for Quebec and the Prairies. So, today is the 60-second challenge. Let’s go!

Ok, first question: "What is the best advice you can give someone who is struggling with mental health?"

That it’s ok, that there’s no shame in struggling and that above all, you’re not alone.

At what point is it important to ask for help in terms of mental health?" I don’t think there is one right" time.

It’s important to make mental health a priority, to take care of it on an ongoing basis.

"In three words, what does peer support mean to you?"

Unbiased, confidential support.

"What does the role of regional coordinator of the Employee Assistance Program for the Department of National Defence look like?"

The coordinator assists employees in their support arrangements, but also acts as a mentor to advisors and peers, and promotes the EAP’s services.

"What is the Employee Assistance Program?"

The EAP provides support and free and confidential services to Department of Defence employees and their family members.

"In your opinion, why is the Employee Assistance Program important?"

It is important that employees have access to mental health supports and services in their workplace when they need them, and that these supports and services be easily accessible and available. And we’re done!
