Let’s give a big round of applause to the recipients of this issue of virtual shout-outs!

"Recognition is the greatest motivator.’’ – Gerard C Eakedale

Do you know of a co-worker who deserves a special shout-out or are you looking for a way to recognize someone who has made an impact, big or small? Virtual Shout-Outs are a quick and easy way for you to publicly recognize a colleague, or team of colleagues, for a job well done.

Here’s how to submit a Virtual Shout-out:

Note that shout-out recipients will be given the option to “opt out” of having their message displayed on the Bulletin Board on the Maple Leaf and the Defence Team intranet (accessible only on the National Defence network) , and submissions can remain anonymous.

Don’t delay! Virtually shout-out your hard-working colleagues today!

Shout out to Billi-Jo Young, Capt. Crystal Johnson, Lin Duan, Minjue Deng, Meng Li, Meijuan Li and Wilco Denissen, for the assistance and support provided to the Corporate Departmental Accounting Office (CDAO 6) Vendor Management team on the Business Partners initiative. Their willingness to help enabled CDAO6 to address backlog and overcome a difficult time when the team was short staffed. Their support was critical and very much appreciated. On behalf of the team, I would like to extend our utmost gratitude to you all. Thanks so much!

–  Christine Ashton (DGFOS)

Claire Case-McNamara, thank you so much for all you do. You go about your work quietly, quickly, and do more than most people see. Well done!

- Theresa Landry

Sending a virtual shoutout to my good friend Sgt Dustin Dolliver. Wishing you a speedy recovery and a great posting in Greenwood, NS. You deserve it brother! Keep fighting the good fight.

- WO Mick Cyr

I’d like to give a shout out to my senior instructors at Naval Fleet School (Atlantic) (NFS(A)); PO1 Lindal, PO1 Korvela, PO1 Lacey, PO1 Fletcher, PO1 Legge and PO1 Rogers. Their guidance to their teams and mentorship to junior staff and students have been key to NFS(A) success and the quality of sailors leaving the schoolhouse to go do the King’s business at sea.

The staff consistently puts out a quality product, using personal experiences to expand on the QSP, maximizing student teaching and knowledge while they are on course. Their hard work allows me as their divisional Chief to focus on Operational/Strategic issues within the training establishment and allows me to be more proactive with the future training schedule to maximize school output to ensure our sailors are working at sea with the proper qualifications with on-time training.

Their concerted efforts have flourished into a comprehensive solution that positively affects operations trades sailors. Myself, and the Fleet I’m sure, are extremely grateful for their efforts!

“I would like to give a special virtual shout out to Douglas Eldershaw. He is an exemplary team player, he makes everyone feel at ease and is always willing to share his extensive knowledge. Doug never complains and often takes on additional tasks. He goes above and beyond every single day. Thank you Doug, you rock!!!”

- Lisa MacDonald

As acting Team Lead for Team 2 Comp All-Stars in TLSS, I couldn’t be prouder of leading this amazing group of individuals on a daily basis. My supervisors, Cory Giordani and Lisa Macdonald are exceptional at managing the daily grind and supporting their teams through changes and challenges. They are great communicators and share with me their team’s ideas in creating a more efficient and effective way of working. TLCAs from Team 2 had suggested we reduce the return to client timeline from 30-days to 21-days. We took that suggestion and put it in place which helped with the case backlog and pay timeliness. Comp All-Stars are always ready to help other teams with their workload and take on new tasks without complaints. I am grateful for Kelsey Thompson’s support as acting Technical Advisor as her collaboration with the supervisors and other TAs ensures our workload is distributed equally, and has been a great help with the onboarding of our new team addition, the Escalation Services team.

Thank you all for your continued dedication to excellence and looking forward to achieving great things together.

- Lyne Beauchamp

I would like to congratulate the entire HR Connect RH team who work hard every day to provide the best HR service at DND. I would like to highlight the exceptional work of all my colleagues, especially two colleagues who make a difference in my everyday work… Catherine Houde (my favorite “Pong”) and Christina Perry (my “Buddy”)! Thanks everyone!

- Mélanie Geoffroy

Thank you to Greg Looman from his outstanding artistic contributions to the Corporate Awards and Recognition Secretariat! Greg leant his graphic design talents to the Corporate awards team and totally revitalized and modernized our Celebrating Excellence Awards certificates. The new design brought the CEA to new heights and made for a beautiful memento that can be showcased proudly by its deserving recipients. Greg, thank you so much for your hard work and for making this year’s CEA such a success!

- Lisa Perry

I would like to submit a virtual shout-out for Sgt Jean-Marc Lagueux for the constant efforts he has made and continues to make building strong connections within our team. Though he has been our section head for a relatively short period of time, his impact was felt quickly! He was more than eager to pitch in wherever he could, and it quickly became apparent that there was no task in our day-to-day operations that was too complex for him to take on. In a very short time, Jean-Marc has shown that he is very determined: he has not only proven to be a valuable member of our team, but also a colleague who is very appreciated by his peers.

- MCpl David Dumais

I would like to submit a virtual shout-out for Capt Morgan Oliviero. During a coordination meeting at CFLRS, the tension was high between Division members regarding a recurring problem with the medical skills files. Capt Oliviero ably defused the situation by taking control and handling things calmly and firmly. He reminded everyone of the importance of constructive and respectful discussion. His quick actions brought the participants back in line and the meeting was able to continue on a much more pleasant note. He demonstrated his social finesse and emotional intelligence, which are characteristics required by the CAF leaders of today and tomorrow. Bravo!

- Capt Jean-Francois Blondeau-Forget
