Quick facts

  • Located on the edge of Île d’Orléans, Cassis de l’Isle ensorceleuse Monna et Filles inc. was created in 1970 by Bernard Monna. His daughters Catherine and Anne Monna took over 15 years ago and are now at the head of a 16-acre currant production facility, where more than 50,000 bottles of spirits are produced annually, in addition to other derived products. The funding obtained under the Lever Program will enable them to develop the branding of their new product line and renew that of existing products.

  • The Lever Program is aimed at food processing companies of varying sizes, both individual firms and corporate groups, as well as food industry sector associations and not-for-profit organizations, depending on the program component. For 2016–2017, just over $1.6 million in funding was granted through the program.

  • In July 2017, federal, provincial and territorial (FPT) agriculture ministers reached an agreement in principle on key elements of the Canadian Agriculture Partnership, which represents a $3 billion FPT investment over five years. The Partnership, launched on April 1, 2018, will create a solid foundation for the future of Canada’s farmers and food processors and help them grow, innovate and prosper.
