St. Luke's Chapel

An ecumenical community gathers at St. Luke's Chapel (Protestant) weekly for worship and fellowship.

• St. Luke's Thrift Shop
  • St. Luke's Thrift Shop, located directly beside St. Luke’s Chapel on Champlain Avenue, is operated by the St. Luke's congregation and aided by volunteers from the community. It has been in operation for over twenty years and serves a vital need in the community.
  • The Thrift Shop carries a wide variety of good quality men's, ladies' and children's clothing as well as small household items all reasonably priced. Donations are graciously accepted.
  • Profits from the Thrift Shop go to the Chapel's wider and local mission projects.

St. Mary's Chapel

St. Mary's Chapel, located in Building G-1, serves the needs of Roman Catholic personnel and their dependants in both official languages.

Gagetown Fitness Centre

The Gagetown Fitness Centre is located in Building M-2. A major renovation/expansion of the facilities began in October 1999 and was completed in December 2000. Additions include a 200 metre indoor track, three squash courts and a wading pool with a water slide. Renovations were also done to the existing facilities. The Gagetown Fitness Centre includes:

Sport Stores

Location: Gagetown Fitness Centre, Building M-2.

Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday, 0730-1500 hours only for military personnel (Public Liability Card required). Closed weekends and holidays.

Equipment Available: A wide variety of sports equipment is available for individual or unit issue. Please discuss your requirements with the Sports Storesman at 506-422-2000, extension 2927 or 3692.

Outdoor Pool

Location: CANEX Complex.

Period of Operation: Early July to end of August.

Tennis Courts

Location: Outdoors adjacent the Fitness Centre, Building M-2.

Period/Hours of Operation: May to October

Equipment: Can be obtained from duty staff in the Fitness Centre.

Soldiers' Arena

Location: CANEX Complex.

Allocations are listed on the arena schedule. Ice time is assigned to 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown leagues and Intersection Programs, and limited time is available to local user groups.

Gage Golf and Curling Association

Location: Fraser Avenue - Town of Oromocto.

Golf Club: 18-hole course operates May to October. Memberships and green fees are available at very affordable rates.

Curling Club: Four sheets operate approximately October to April. Various leagues are available throughout the season.

The GAGE Golf and Curling Association is a new multi-purpose building that provides clubhouse facilities for golfers and curlers. The main floor features a licensed bar and snack counter. The lower level is used as an assembly room with its own licensed bar. Additional information is available from the Club Manager at 506-357-3002.

Fitness Trails

5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown has created an intricate series of beautiful wooded trails which depart from behind the fitness centre and allow for you to get a little closer to nature as you exercise. One trail, approximately 1.75 kilometres in distance with six stations located throughout the trail offers both cardiopulmonary and muscular endurance training and is now lighted allowing for later evening activity. Seasonally there are trails available for runners, walkers, bikers and skiers to enjoy.

Lindsay Valley

Also located at 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown is our ski lodge, Lindsay Valley. This facility has eight different groomed Nordic ski trails.

The Dental Clinic is located in Building A-47. Dental treatment is provided by 1 Dental Unit Detachment Gagetown, which is a lodger unit under the control of 1 Dental Unit Ottawa.

Clinic operating hours are: Monday to Friday from 0730 to 1200 hours and 1300 to 1600 hours. Sick parade is held Monday to Friday at 0730 hours.

Emergency treatment for relief of pain is available anytime. After hours, emergency treatment is available by contacting the duty dental officer cell phone at 506-449-0731. If there is no response within 15 minutes, the duty dental assistant can be contacted, cell phone 506-292-9411. If there is no answer, contact the 5^th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown Duty Officer at local 1491 or 506-449-0022.

Comprehensive dental treatment is provided by dental officers and auxiliaries whose purpose is to deliver the best possible service to our patients. Some specialist services are available at the Dental Clinic while other appointments may be referred to 1 Dental Unit Detachment Halifax.

Dependants of military members are not treated at the military Dental Clinic; however, ample civilian services are available both in Oromocto and Fredericton. Most local Dentists are familiar with the CF Dependants Dental Care Program. Claim forms are available from unit Orderly Rooms.

For all emergencies dial 911

Any person discovering a fire in 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown or in the PMQ area shall:

• take action to evacuate the danger area;
• activate the nearest fire alarm or telephone the Fire Department (on Base 911 or PMQs 911) and describe the exact location of the fire;
• use any available equipment to control the fire to minimize its spreading. Do not endanger lives or risk injury unnecessarily; and
• remain at the scene to direct fire-fighters to the location of the fire.

When an evacuation is sounded, all personnel will secure classified material and make an immediate and orderly exit and report to an assembly point clear of the building where they will provide their full co-operation with the fire department.

All personnel are responsible for reading Fire Orders.

POL and Hazmat Response - 506-422-2000 Ext. 2106

All petroleum, oils and lubricants (POL) and hazardous materials (Hazmat) spill responses at 5^th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown are coordinated through Base Fire Services.

To report a POL/Hazmat incident, call the 24-hour number which is extension 2106. Be prepared to provide as much of the following information as possible:

• Name
• Telephone number
• Building or grid location of spill
• Product spilled (if known)
• Amount of product (if known)
• Safety and environmental concerns (if known)

Ensure the safety of all persons and remain at the site to direct fire or first responder personnel to the location.

Notification of spills occurring in the training area will be forwarded to the Fire Hall through Range Control.

5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown's 1496 Residential Housing Units (RHUs) are located within the boundaries of the Town of Oromocto. In addition to the By-Laws of the Town of Oromocto, occupants of RHUs must comply with the provisions of DAOD 5024-0, DND Living Accommodation and the Canadian Forces Housing Agency License Agreement.

The Canadian Forces Housing Agency (CFHA) manages military housing on behalf of the Department of National Defence and locally works very closely with the 5th Canadian Division Support Group Personnel Support Services Branch. The CFHA office is located in building F-20 at 15 Hazen Crescent, Oromocto.

The New Brunswick Military Family Resource Centre (NBMFRC) is here to work with you and your family. Who We Are

The NBMFRC is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enriching the quality of life for military families. A volunteer Board of Directors comprised of a minimum of 51% military spouses, Canadian Armed Forces members and Ex-Officio members govern our organization. The Centre's main source of funding is provided through a partnership with Military Family Services (MFS), and 5^th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown. Additional funding is realized through user fees, donations, fundraisers, federal and provincial grants and contributions from our community.

MFRCs are individual non-profits and though we all share 4 mandated service delivery components, we function independently from one another. This allows us to cater specifically to the needs of our families residing in New Brunswick, and form collaborative partnerships with local service providers to enhance the programs and services we are able to offer.This means that although you may receive certain programs and services from us, the official job titles and community needs in other service areas may call upon their MFRCs to do things a little differently. Ultimately, we are grateful for the individuality this independence allows us, as we are able to listen to the suggestions from our members and their families, and tailor our approaches to suit their unique needs.

Mission

The mission of the New Brunswick Military History Museum is to acquire, conserve, research, exhibit, and interpret artefacts and archival documents that illustrate the history and heritage of the military forces in New Brunswick, and New Brunswickers at war, during peacetime, and on UN/NATO duty to Canadian Armed Forces personnel and to the public at large.

About Us

The New Brunswick Military History Museum showcases the rich military history of New Brunswick dating from the mid-17th century to the present day. Visitors can step back in time and explore this heritage through interactive and life-sized exhibits. Join us and discover our military’s stories of triumph and sacrifice.

Accessible to military personnel as well as members of the public. Hours vary seasonally.

Donations

In order to tell our story, we rely on donations of uniforms, weapons, medals, books, photographs and other artifacts. Items from the 1700s to present day are required from all elements; Army, Navy and Airforce. Provenance – known history of the item such as owner or use – helps us fit the item into the story line and greatly increases its value both to the museum and to Canadian military history.

Although we receive partial funding as a military museum, funds required for routine operations must be generated from local resources. This includes grants and donations from interested organizations and individuals. Donations may be used for a variety of purposes including hiring staff and helping to pay for a new facility. Tax receipts will be issued for any amount over $10.00.

The 5 Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown (CDSB) Pipes and Drums is a military pipe band located on 5 CDSB Gagetown in Oromocto, New Brunswick. They provide top quality musical performance on behalf of the 5th Canadian Division of the Canadian Army in support of ceremonies, parades, functions, and events on base, across Canada as well as internationally. The band is run by two full-time members of the Pipes and Drums trade; a Pipe Major and Drum Instructor. These positions are regular force positions filled by CAF members who pass an audition and application process to ensure the highest musical standard. The main body of the group includes serving CAF members of various trades, Veterans, and civilians who volunteer their time to take part in band performances and improve their musical skills. Many band members are also active members of the pipes and drums community, competing in solo and band events in North America and Scotland throughout the year.
