The Government of Canada awards $200,000 in financial assistance to this Boucherville business

January 15, 2019 – Boucherville, QuebecCanada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Porcupine Canvas Manufacturing occupies a prominent niche in the design and manufacturing of custom shelters, tents and teepees, including for the glamping and outdoor markets, in addition to offering a range of resistant textile products, such as bags of all types and other specific-use items.

To meet growing demand, Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions will provide the company with a repayable contribution of $200,000. With this financial assistance, the business will be able to optimize its production capacity in order to take full advantage of promising growth opportunities on both the domestic and international markets.

This funding was announced today by the Honourable Marc Garneau, Member of Parliament for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Westmount and Minister of Transport. The Government of Canada’s assistance will allow for the introduction of digital production technology for its cutting processes and the purchase of programmable industrial sewing machines. The initiative will result in the creation of 15 jobs.

Under new management and headquartered in Boucherville since 2017, the company has reached a turning point in its development. Bolstered by its current successes and strong order activity, it has the tools it needs to take full advantage of available business opportunities.
