Silver and its compounds

Information sheet

These substances were identified for action under the Chemicals Management Plan (CMP). This screening assessment focuses on the silver moiety and therefore considers silver in its elemental form, silver-containing substances, and all forms of silver found in the environment. The health conclusion includes, but is not limited to the 7 substances identified in the table below (referred to in the screening assessment as the Silver and its Compounds Group); however, the proposed ecological conclusion is limited to those 7 substances.

Follow-up activities

Although a risk to human health or the environment has not been identified at levels of exposure considered in the screening assessment, there may be a concern if exposure to silver and its compounds were to increase. As a result, silver and its compounds may be considered in future initiatives to obtain additional information.
