Blue:Health Canada is reviewing the guidelines and screening values for PFAS in drinking water. A technical document is available for public consultation from February 11, 2023 to April 12, 2023.
Overview
This guideline technical document reviews and assesses all identified health risks associated with PFOS in drinking water. It incorporates available studies and approaches and takes into consideration the availability of appropriate analytical methods and treatment technology. Based on this review, the drinking water guideline for PFOS is a maximum acceptable concentration (MAC) of 0.0006 mg/L (0.6 µg/L), based on the general population. This document was endorsed by the Federal-Provincial-Territorial Committee on Drinking Water of the Federal-Provincial-Territorial Committee on Health and the Environment.
