ARCHIVED – Notice – Hold lifted on processing of immigration and citizenship applications for intercountry adoptions from South Africa

June 11, 2013 — The Canadian High Commission in Pretoria (CHC Pretoria) has resumed processing permanent residence and Canadian citizenship applications for intercountry adoptions from South Africa, effective May 3, 2013.

Prospective adoptive parents whose cases were in progress will be contacted by the Mission in Pretoria regarding the status of their application. Other related inquiries should be directed to the responsible adoption agency and/or your provincial/territorial central adoption authority.

All new applications are being assessed to ensure that adoptions comply with the laws of both the receiving country (Canada) and the sending country (South Africa).
