How to Get a Police Certificate - Maldives
If you need to give your fingerprints for a police certificate, this isn’t the same as giving your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) for an application.

How to get a Police Certificate:
If you are a citizen of Maldives:
If you live in Maldives:
You should send your completed application (available on the Maldives Police Service website) to the Maldives Police Service by post or email (see Special notes and considerations for complete address). The Maldives Police Service will telephone you to tell you the date, time and place where you can get your certificate. You must show your original National Identity Card to get your certificate.
If you live outside of Maldives:
You should complete an application on the Maldives Police Service website and send to the Maldives Police Service by post or email (see Special notes and considerations for complete address).
If you are not a citizen of Maldives:
If you live in Maldives:
You should complete an application on the Maldives Police Service website and send to the Maldives Police Service Headquarters in Male, Villi Police Stations or Regional Police Stations in the atolls.
If you live outside of Maldives:
You should send your completed application (available on the Maldives Police Service website) to the Maldives Police Service by post or email (see Special notes and considerations for complete address).
Information and documents you need:
- Completed and signed application (available on the Maldives Police Service website)
- Passport size photograph with a white color background (taken in the last three months)
- Certified copy of your passport information page
- Your original National Identity Card
- Applicable fees
- If you are unable to pick up the certificate in person at Police Headquarters in Malé, you should include a prepaid envelope with your application package
- If the applicant is a dependant:
- Certified copy of original visa holder's passport information page
- Certified copy of dependant card
If you are not a citizen of Maldives, you will also need:
- Certified copy of your passport visa page(s)
- Certified copy of your work permit card or dependant card (if applicable)
- An original letter from your employer, on organization letterhead paper, with an original stamp. The letter should clearly state the period, place and position of your employment.
