Why you need a settlement plan
After you get a job offer from a designated employer, you need a settlement plan to apply for the Atlantic Immigration Program. A settlement plan will
- help you and your family adjust to your new home in Atlantic Canada
- give you useful information and referrals to free services in your new community
How to get a settlement plan
Start by contacting a settlement service provider organization. Your employer may suggest an organization, but you can choose any organization from the table below.
- If you live outside of Canada, there are organizations that can serve you in person or online. If you’re currently in Canada, there are organizations in Atlantic Canada that can help you.
- If you’re not yet in Canada and your official language of preference is French, visit ConnexionsFrancophones.ca (in French only), a one-stop-shop for all information and services that can help you better prepare for your departure.
- If you’re already in Canada and you prefer to receive services in French, many Francophone organizations are ready to support you in planning your new life in Atlantic Canada.
The settlement service provider organization will assess your needs and assets. This means they’ll ask you and your family questions (in person, online, or by phone). After, you’ll get a personalized settlement plan.
Once you and your family members receive your settlement plan, send a copy to the employer. The employer will need to send the settlement plan with their endorsement application to the province.
