# 2020-155 Careers, Cease-training, Pilot

Cease-training, Pilot

Case summary

F&R Date: 2021-10-29

The grievor complained that the decision to end his pilot training was unjustified. As redress, the grievor requested the opportunity to resume flight training or start it over again and continue his pursuit of a career as a pilot.

The Initial Authority (IA), the Commander 2 Canadian Air Division, found that all factors in the grievor's training were considered and that the recommendation of the Progress Review Board, and the subsequent decision of the Commandant 2 Canadian Forces Flight Training School to end training, were appropriate. As such, the IA denied the grievance.

The Committee found that the grievor met course failure criteria, in accordance with the Integrated Training Plan, and that the grievor's extenuating circumstances did not justify continuation of his pilot training as they were addressed either before or during training. The Committee recommended that redress not be granted.

FA decision summary

The Commander Canadian Air Force, acting as Final Authority (FA), agreed with the Committee's findings and recommendation not to afford the grievor redress.
