Farm Products Council of Canada
Letter on Implementation of the Call to Action on Anti-Racism, Equity and Inclusion

Summer 2021 update

Dear Ms. Charette:

I welcome this opportunity to report on the status of the Call to Action on Anti-Racism, Equity and Inclusion at the Farm Products Council of Canada (FPCC).

FPCC is a micro organization with a current complement of 16 FTEs, including my own position and two executive positions, currently both held by women.

The call to action and the priority placed on Anti-Racism, Equity and Inclusion is extremely important.  We are grateful to our portfolio partner, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) for the opportunity to leverage their resources. Without this partnership, our small size would significantly restrict our ability to address many current topics, including this one. We encourage employees to take advantage of the networks and initiatives made available through this partnership. Those employees who have engaged in AAFC led initiatives have very much appreciated these opportunities. I also remain engaged with AAFC’s Deputy Minister about this very important topic.

FPCC will continue to increase the diversity of our organization through multiple staffing opportunities anticipated over the next year. A new organizational training plan, currently in development, will also highlight diversity and inclusion. Together, these initiatives will help us to continue to build a diverse, equitable and inclusive organization.

Regards,

Brian Douglas
Chair
