General information

Governance structures

The PSC has historically applied a diversity and employment equity lens in the development of its policy and programs, as well as in its advisory functions. During fiscal year 2018-19, the PSC will continue supporting the government-wide priorities of gender equality, diversity and inclusiveness through the implementation of its newly developed GBA+ Framework.

The PSC plans to use the governance structure already in place to develop, integrate and monitor government-wide initiatives like GBA+. Existing committees will be involved in implementing the GBA+ Framework and monitoring its progress.

A champion at the vice-president level, already in office, will continue to promote and give visibility to GBA+ within the PSC. The PSC will also create a dedicated advisory network and participate in the Status of Women Canada cluster network.

Human resources

The implementation and the usage of GBA+ will be a PSC-wide initiative that will directly and indirectly involve many internal stakeholders. Groups and committees already involved in the promotion of a representative and inclusive public service will contribute to the implementation of GBA+. Managers and advisors will also be involved when using GBA+ to evaluate the outcome on various groups when developing policies, programs, and exercising advisory functions.

Planned initiatives

For fiscal year 2018-19, the main initiative will be the implementation of the GBA+ framework. The PSC will also promote awareness through the entire organization and integrate GBA+ in its business processes.
