Changes to the leave reporting system, new leave code (EL group): leave with pay for routine medical appointments for specially trained animals

The purpose of this notice is to inform you that a new leave code has been created in the Leave Reporting System which is effective .
This new leave code has been created to keep track of the use of leave with pay for routine medical appointments for specially trained animals for employees of the Electronics group (EL) only. Please refer to the new paragraph 18.19 d) of the collective agreement signed .
18.19 Leave with or without pay for other reasons
Up to three decimal seven five (3.75) hours of leave with pay will be granted to an employee for the purpose of attending routine medical appointments for their “specially trained animal”, as defined in the Canada Revenue Agency guidelines for medical expenses.

Departments must ensure that their Leave Reporting System is amended accordingly. These leave transactions must be reported to the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat for each fiscal year period (April 1 to March 31), first reporting period starting .
