Living Cost Differential (LCD) Survey Results for the Yukon Territory and Northern British Columbia Region

Please distribute this notice and the amended appendices of the National Joint Council (NJC) Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive (IPGHD) to employees at your headquarters and regional offices who are involved in the administration of the allowances.

The results of the Statistics Canada survey of the Living Costs Differential (LCD) for the Yukon Territory and Northern British Columbia region were recently communicated to the National Joint Council Isolated Posts and Government Housing Committee (NJC-IPGHC). A total of eighteen (18) isolated posts were involved in this review and the results can be summarized as follows:

Posts with no level changes – 11 posts

  • Beaver Creek
  • Carcross
  • Carmacks
  • Dawson
  • Faro
  • Fraser, BC
  • Little Gold
  • Pelly Crossing
  • Teslin
  • Watson Lake
  • Whitehorse

Posts with one level increase – 5 posts

  • Destruction Bay
  • Haines Junction
  • Old Crow
  • Pleasant Camp, BC
  • Ross River

These changes will be effective for the Isolated Posts which had a classification increase in the LCD level as per section 2.12.2 of the NJC Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive (IPGHD).

Posts with one level decrease – 2 posts

  • Atlin, BC
  • Mayo

Note that departments must provide notification to employees on the decrease in the classification of the LCD level and the effective date of the change is , the first day of the fourth calendar month after the month in which written notification was received as per section 2.14.1 of the IPGHD.  An email message is acceptable to provide such notification. Details regarding the methodology can be found in the “Guide to National Joint Council Rates and Allowances”.
