When We Train

September to June:

  • Wednesday evenings
  • 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • one weekend per month.

Full-time summer employment is available from May to August.

20th Field Artillery Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) is a Primary Reserve field artillery unit of the Canadian Forces. It is composed of two Field Batteries:

  • 61st Field Battery, RCA - Edmonton, AB
  • 78th Field Battery, RCA - Red Deer, AB

We pride ourselves on the uniqueness and versatility of our unit. There are many opportunities to stream and specialize in the abounding branches within Artillery.

Our members currently stand ready to be employed in both Domestic and Non-Domestic operations on short notice with the Regular Force. 20th Field Artillery Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery traces its roots back to the 2nd of February, 1920 when it was formed. The Regiment has since seen action in WWII, Korea, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Former Yugoslavia, and Afghanistan.

The Canadian Artillery and the Garrison Artillery were the designations of the Non-Permanent Active Militia as of January 1,1914. After the campaigns of World War I, 20th Field Artillery Regiment was officially formed under the newly designated 5th Brigade of the 1st Canadian division the Canadian Artillery on the 2nd of February, 1920. Prior to World War II, the Canadian Artillery and the Garrison Artillery were collectively designated the Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) on 3 June 1935.
