How did you arrive at PacifiCan?
I heard there was an open spot for a casual position in the Corporate Administrative Services (CAS) team. At the time I was a stay-at-home mom and was just starting to get my mindset ready for work again, so it was great timing! Although I had no previous office/administrative experience, I thought it was the perfect opportunity for me to try it out and see what happens. Taking that leap was one of the best decisions I ever made career-wise!
What do you do on a typical day?
I check my own inbox and the CAS inbox multiple times a day and maintain inventory of supplies at PacifiCan's Library Square office in Vancouver. I work closely with my team to coordinate a variety of internal needs, like requests for supplies/equipment, invoice payments, staff lockers, and anything else that comes up in between. My goal is to keep the office running smoothly and ensure that PacifiCan’ers always have what they need to do their best work.
What do you find most rewarding about your job?
Just receiving a simple “thank you” from my colleagues when I help with their requests and queries makes my day! I also feel very lucky to be a part of the CAS team. I’ve learned a lot since joining PacifiCan and always feel very supported. I couldn’t ask for better teammates!
A few “quick facts”
I used to work in the kitchen of cake shops as a cake decorator, but I am not very good at baking! I also love cars and animals, especially cats and dogs. I currently do not own any pets, but I hope that may change in the future.
What city are you originally from?
I was born and raised in Vancouver, lived in Toronto for a bit, and now I reside in Richmond.
When did you start at PacifiCan?
November 2022.
What have you enjoyed about your role at Pacifican thus far?
I enjoy helping others and fulfilling supply/equipment needs to provide a safe, comfortable, and functional workspace setup that supports our employees. I also enjoy meeting new faces, so being part of CAS gives me the opportunity to welcome newcomers and interact with many other folks from different branches.
Any advice you have for people who may want to join PacifiCan?
I would highly recommend joining! The work culture and people here are phenomenal; you will not be disappointed! While I am not directly involved in our client programs and projects, I feel proud to be part of an agency that makes a difference for British Columbians.
Can you give us one or two things that you enjoy outside of work? This can be a hobby or some fun fact that your colleagues may not know about you.
Outside of work I enjoy hiking (or snowshoeing in winter), camping, watching TV and movies (when I can find the time), and discovering new playgrounds with my kids.
