Electronic data interchange (EDI) is a standardized method for exchanging business information electronically between organizations. Typical workflows in the commercial trade business require the exchange of documents such as:

EDI offers trade chain partners (commercial trade clients) of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) a way to transmit trade data between and within businesses and government departments.
