Message from the Ombudsman | 27 October 2025

I’m honoured to recognize the outstanding contributions of members of Canada’s Defence community at the 24th annual Liz Hoffman Memorial Commendation ceremony.

This commendation celebrates individuals who have gone above and beyond—driving meaningful, lasting change within the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces.

Liz Hoffman, a passionate investigator with the Ombudsman’s Office, was known for her unwavering commitment to fairness and her powerful impact as a catalyst for positive transformation.

It’s with great pride that I announce this year’s recipients, who embody Liz’s spirit of service and dedication to others:

  • Lieutenant-Colonel Patricia Travers
  • Master Sailor Ingeborg (Haley) LeClair
  • The Warriors of the Royal Winnipeg Rifle Indigenous Group

Congratulations to these exceptional individuals. Your efforts inspire us all.
